This circa 1847 home sits on 2.69 park-like acres in a row of five pre-Civil War homes overlooking historic Lebanon, Ohio, which is an easy commute from either Cincinnati or Dayton. A mere six owners during the past 100 plus years have contributed to the minimal modification of its original architectural features. Some features of the house include plaster acanthus cornices and ceiling medallions in the 12x9 entry foyer and in the 37x17 living room (originally a ballroom), hardwood floors, twelve foot ceilings, and twelve inch baseboards throughout. A wooden arch, supported by elaborate columns, divides the foyer and the 26x9 main hall. Windows throughout the house are shuttered by pocketed plantation shutters. Walls below most windows are wood-paneled. The living room and the 16x16 front parlor (now the family room) each have a marble-faced fireplace and a bay window. The dining room, distinguished by large south-facing windows, measures 17x16. The brass chandeliers and sconces in the home are period reproductions created by a company that has also created fixtures for the White House, the Old Executive Office Building and the Smithsonian. The three-story oval winding staircase ascends from the main hall to a third floor garret. The stair rail is accented by a unique first floor newel post carved by the homes builder, Ezra Craver. At the second floor the stairway leads to an 11x13 central hall, on one side of which is a 12x9 reading alcove delineated by an arch like that in the lower hall. Four bedrooms, measuring 17x16, 18x14, 17x15, and 17x16, and a full bath are accessed from the central hall. Two of the bedrooms have wood-faced fireplaces and access to small balconies. A second full bath adjoins the master bedroom. Another staircase, accessed from a small hall off the master bedroom, descends past a 14x12 office (originally a servants bedroom) and leads to a 14x14 breakfast room that adjoins the 17x14 kitchen. A half bath is located off the breakfast room. The kitchen features freestanding antique cupboards and an antique general store counter that serves as an island workspace, all of which, except for a corner cupboard, are included. Kitchen appliances (refrigerator, gas range, electric wall oven, compactor, dishwasher, and disposal) are also included. A 6x4 walk-in pantry adjoins the kitchen. The basement is partial, and the heating is by natural gas forced air. A veranda with paddle fans spans the rear of the house and looks out on a back yard with a gunnite in-ground heated pool and a circa-1849 brick carriage house.
